Admission Process

  1. Print the downloadable personal data form, aptitude form, and medical form provided on the ABHTI website:

    • Please ensure that all sections of the three forms are completed.
    • Ensure that a valid phone number and email address are on the form. These are the methods through which the ABHTI will communicate with you.
  2. Ensure that your application is accompanied by all relevant original documents and duplicate copies:

    • Proof of high school completion in the form of a standard high school diploma.
    • Proof of nationality- (Passport).
    • Official high school transcripts.
    • CSEC/CAPE/GCE Certificate.
    • Birth certificate.
    • If non-national, passport must have valid dates.
    • One passport-sized photo.
    • Personal statement.
  3. Registration period:

    • The registration period begins on 01 June and ends on the last working day of July; after which it is considered late
      registration.
    • Late registration ends on 30 August.

Entry Requirements


  1. To qualify for entry into the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute the following criteria should be met by the applicant:

    • Students 16-24 must have five (5) CXC subjects inclusive of English.
  2. The Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) welcomes applications from qualified students who are interested in joining the hospitality field, mature persons over 25 years seeking to add certification to experience, and individuals who want a career change or just want to enter the area of hospitality.

    • Mature persons over 25 years and may not have the requisite CXCs will have to complete a proficiency test and produce two letters of recommendation – one from a current employer and the other from a past employer/supervisor.
  3. Also, applicants will have to complete a very rigorous interview process before he/she is accepted as a student at the ABHTI.

Fees are inclusive of the tuition, lab fees and insurance.
Payments can be made in three installments per year. The first installment is due on the first day of class.

Fees

  • Registration fee is EC$125.00 this subject to change and non-refundable
  • Late registration fee is EC$175.00, subject to change and non-refundable
  • The registration period begins on 01 Jun and ends on the last working day of July; after which, it is considered ‘late registration’ and that comes at an additional cost
  • Late registration ends 30 August

F.A.Q.


  1. Where is the institute located?

    The institute is located at Hospitality Drive, Dutchman’s Bay, Coolidge. (Add Google maps for directional purposes here)

  2. Is tuition assistance available?

    Prospective as well as current students who are eligible can apply to the Board of Education and the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Committee for financial assistance.

  3. What are the hours for classes?

    The first class of the day begins at 8:15 am and the last class normally ends at 9:30 pm. This, however, does not mean that all students will be at the institute for these set hours every day. Students are scheduled for classes throughout the day.

  4. Does the school provide transportation?

    No, it does not. However, there are buses that run to and from St. John’s throughout the day.
